Study in UK

The best possible environment for Indian students is joining the British Education System. You will find that studying in the UK means a perfect mix and match of location, institution and course. Something that cannot be promised anywhere else in the world. Indians often associate UK as being expensive country. This point should be clarified.

London is the capital of UK & like all the major cities around the world it is expensive. However there are many affordable places outside London, such as Birmingham, Derby, Luton, Liverpool, Manchester & many more. Today, Indians are traveling to UK to study a variety of subjects like business, engineering, art & design, law, technology & systems. There are more than 160 institutions offering degrees. Almost as important as the academic advantages of a UK education are the chances it offers to experience life in the UK. The fact that a UK education is second to none should come as no surprise.

Now if UK is your preference, there are few more facts you must keep in mind:

Entry Requirement
Minimum academic requirement to be eligible for undergrad or postgrad varies from institution to institution, and course to course. Generally it is:

  • Undergrad Degree   (3yrs) =10+2
  • Postgrad Degree (MS/MBA) (1yr) =12+3/4(MBA also require WE)
  • PhD    (3yrs) =1st Class degree/postgrad

In addition to this, most of the University ask for TOEFL/IELTS score to measure your English Language skills: both written & spoken. Minimum cutoff score is 213/300 for TOEFL & point 6.0/10.0 for IELTS. The certificate also helps to strengthen visa applications.

There are other documentation parts also like Statement of Purpose, Recommendations, Transcripts etc. for which you need to contact the experts.

Selection of University
University is your career launch pad. Here your future is awaiting you with open arms, you just need to open your mind. You need to enquire about university standard, accommodation, international students ratio, and placements by the university. Don’t be “penny wise pound foolish” by avoiding payment of thousands to expert. Don’t compromise with college, as the fees you are paying are the investment in your career against which you should get maximum returns

Selection of Course
Some courses may have the same or similar titles but their contract may be totally different as it varies from institution to institution. Also the assessment & exam techniques may vary. Therefore it is essential to compare course brochures, which are available from the institutions or check it online. While selecting your course you should be focused enough. For e.g. if you are an arts student and applying for engineering it is considered as unfocussed in the eyes of consulate. You will get the admission in university, as the education system is different from what we have in India. You can shift to any stream from a particular stream provided you justify your decision.

Budget
While budgeting you need to consider 2 kinds of expenses. Tuition fees and Food & Accommodation. For the tuition cost UK is on par with other countries. What matters is your food & accommodation cost. It is more expensive in UK, especially in London, than it is in other continents. However, the budget balances out as the course in UK are of a shorter duration. Tuition fees ranges from 6000 pounds to 9000 pounds approximately. While food and accommodation cost 6000 pound approximately depending on the location.

Scholarship
Students rarely get scholarship from institutions in the UK. Postgraduate students might qualify for some funding in particular fields of research.  Apply well in advance to get funding from institution and accordingly you can organize your funds.

Employment
As you are going as a student and not as an employee you cannot work full time because of the intensive nature of courses. There is often little time left for work. But according to new initiative students are able to obtain part time employment for 20 hrs. per week during the term and full time employment during the vacations. You can earn 3.60 pound to 15 pound per hr. depending on the prior experience.

With your student visa, you are expected to return to your home country once your term is over. But if one does manage to acquire a work permit, the fact that you are an international scholar would not make a difference to your employer. They are more interested in how well you can apply what you have learnt. They look for brilliants, which are active and progressive. You should be capable of adjusting to different environments.

Visa
After receiving the acceptance letter from university you can apply for student visa. As a prospective student you have to prove that you have an unconditional offer on a full-time course and you intend to return home on completion of your studies. In addition to this it is also important to highlight sufficient funds with evidence through bank statements, family income and property documents and proof of accommodation. One fact you must know that there is only a limited time available to you so contact our counselor at 670 7035 in person to clear your doubts counsellor. It is very important that student take the onus of what can be squeezed out of the course. You are traveling to study there, show them you want to get the most out of yours time there. This attitude can open up a let of exiting opportunities to anyone traveling to the UK. I wish you all the very best to go ahead.
